Leadership Development Programme

Home / Leadership Development Programme

‘A leader is a person who influences a group of people towards the achievement of a goal.’
Is it then so simple to be a leader? In which case, we would have Leaders around every corner. Though everyone would like themselves to be considered as a leader, we see in life, that true leaders are few and far between. In business, the word ‘leader’ is too often used to describe top performers. Sometimes, that works. One might be a “leading” producer, and results are important—but leadership transcends results.

Performance without dedicated service has a short shelf life. Customers become dissatisfied. Employees become disengaged. Colleagues are forced to pick up the slack, and then they become resentful.
So, what defines ‘authentic,’ sustainable leadership? How can one replicate it in order to develop the next generation?

“Great leaders are almost always great simplifiers, who can cut through argument, debate, and doubt to offer a solution everybody can understand.”

- Colin Powell

Moulting Caterpillar’s exciting ‘small batch,’ Leadership Development programme is designed for those Senior Managers / Leaders, identified and poised to move into the C-Suite. It’s a six-month mixed methodology programme for a batch size of six to eight emerging leaders and includes outdoor modules. The programme facilitates the priming of the chosen few, to dig deep within themselves and recognise the resources they have, that would enable them to shoulder the higher responsibilities with grace under pressure. Responsibilities, that include shouldering the fallout of mistakes by the larger team, learning to always give credit to the team for success and singularly accept the brickbats of failure, directing but not micro-managing, aligning and influencing stakeholders towards a common organisational strategy and steering one’s team to success through the many storms that periodically hit businesses.

Subroto is uniquely positioned to impart and imbue leadership lessons and traits that help leaders lead from the front. He has Commanded two frontline warships – both of which won the coveted ‘best ship’ citations. One of his Commands was during the now famous ‘Kargil Conflict,’ and he had the privilege to lead his men under the exacting conditions of war. He has been the Chief Instructor and Deputy Commandant of the Naval Academy, where Officer entrants to the Indian Navy are imparted abinitio leadership training. He was also the first COO of India’s only Tri-Service Command and had the responsibility of planning, coordinating and putting to action operations including components from the Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard. He has also held CXO roles in the 14 years he has spent in the Corporate world, which have included working with a Start-up and a venerable MNC where he designed, raised and successfully led a completely new profitable vertical.
